For those affected to lead independent lives, they need volunteers. UCBA volunteers accompany and support those affected in their daily lives. They guide them on routes that are too difficult or impossible to navigate alone. They describe what they see, allowing them to access information. The goal is always to enable the person with deafblindness to live and participate in society as independently as possible. As a volunteer, you will receive training from us and support throughout your commitment.

Initiator: Tina Volunteer Time: Depending on your availability (maximum 6 hours per week on average) Volunteers can tell us what works best for them. It is always possible to decline a request. Location: Various locations throughout Switzerland. You can choose the geographic area that suits you. Procedure: The specialist and you exchange necessary information. You can tell us if you prefer to accompany people individually and/or in groups during activities. Individual accompaniment for shopping, visiting an exhibition, etc. (volunteer and beneficiary alone) Accompaniment during an activity from our training and leisure program (one of our professionals is always present). After the support: Opportunity to conduct a review with the responsible professional. Introduction to activities: Participation in two mandatory introductory courses Intake interview with the responsible social worker Supervision: Regional service social worker available to answer questions On-site interview every two years Tasks: Support for people living with combined vision and hearing impairments Opportunity to get involved in almost all areas of daily life, whether visiting people, helping them with shopping, accompanying them on excursions, or playing sports. All national languages ​​and the three possible sign languages: mastery of one of these three languages ​​is sufficient.
